Updates will not install

I have tried repeatedly (> 15 times) to update my Vista (Acer Netwook c/ 2GB RAM, Atom Processor) with the latest 8 updates. The update program runs and says successful installation, shutdown shows the inclusion of the updates, yet then reappear on the

update screen after reboot....
