windows vista HOW TO TRANFER OR MAKE A CLONE FROM A LAPTOP TO A DESKTOP THAT HAS A DIFFERENT NAME BRAND?

I have a Gateway DX4710-09 that was restored to original from recovery disc set. I can not get it from AHCI CD-ROM boot to the original windows program. But if I could transfer my laptop Toshiba A665 series windows 7 to copy or clone if it's possible would this work? I purchased a SATA SEAGATE 1 TB to replace the original hard drive to the Gateway DX4710-09 model and it works great but this could also be the problem that causes the AHCI CD-ROM issue I'm having. Do I need to purchase this disc or could I get around this issue some away? I am trying to take some of the pressure off my laptop by transfering to a second hand desktop which I purchased without a hard drive. Could you help? The DX4710-09 came with Windows Vista which I do not have. My laptop Toshiba A665 has Windows 7 pre-installed that I purchased with key code. What steps can I take if any?
