microsoft security essentilas effectiveness

I've recently started using Microsoft Security Essentials but all the articles i'm reading about it losing its AV Certification and only being able to detected only 64% of zero-day threats on Windows 7 should i consider removing it and installing another

Anti-Virus or are the articles wrong.
