15 windows updates all failed to install

Everytime I get windows 8 updates the majority of them fail to install they get downloaded, restart to install get to about 9% then restart and roll back it's a pain, with the majority of updates failing to install. Why is this happening? I have scoured

the net and it seems a very common problem. tried disabling Svcs turning off, windows defender, downloading and trying to install one by one - but nothing seems to work. I am contemplating turning off automatic updates all together.

Please advise - my pc system is Intel core I7 -3770K CPU 3.50GHZ,16GBRAM, 64bit OS windows 8 pro
