Why did Windows december 12th Update Mess up Windows 8 Pro ?

3 times My computer loaded up to the start screen and Halted then I kick a bios reset and it triggered a few more Processes that were Left over from December 12 2012 monthly updates I was start getting nervous when the sign in prompt wasn't loading
