A friend brought his computer over and asked me to see if I could unlock it, due to some kind of software that was displayed on the screen. When I started the computer, it booted up almost to the Windows welcome screen, but then an official looking FBI

warning appeared telling the computer user that this computer had been locked and to go to moneypak and send $200.00 to them and they would unlock the computer.

 

 

First, has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know of a way to get this software off, with the exception of wiping the HDD and re-installing a clean copy of the O/S ?
