Works fine here with every browser (IE, Opera, Firefox); works OK but looks like

crap in OffByOne.

Probably one of those updates you won't install is the problem. ;-)

Re: IE Crashes on this medical website?

Really? Hey, thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one.

I recorded the error message this time, as follows:

"IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in MSHTML.DLL".

I'm assuming you got the same error message. (???)

Well, I researched that a bit, but so far, no real answers for this

particular case, since it only happens at this one site (at least so far),

so it appears it has something to do with some somewhat unique page content

or rendering for this one site. (Well, that, and the fact that mshtml.dll

is involved).

It was interesting to hear, though, that Glen didn't have any problems with

that site. And that may be due to all the updates he has taken in, who

knows. Or maybe not.

And of course Firefox has no problems with it, either. All of which is too

bad, since the site looks like a good medical reference site

Hey PCR, what about you? But then again, you've probably added all those

updates, so it's not a relatively pure IE6 SP1 anymore.

Re: IE Crashes on this medical website?

I got a different error message than you. I got the standard "Microsoft

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are

sorry for the inconvenience" message with the option to "Send error report"

or "Don't send". BTW, I've done all the updates as well as SP1

Curious, innit.

Interesting. You and I have problems with that site, and Glen doesn't.

Pretty weird! Thanks for the info, bobster.

Crashes for me... IE 6.0.2800.1106 SPI

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: mshtml.dll

Glee,

What update do you think could be missing. I think I have all. I've

received this message a couple of times before and wondered why. Could it

be something to do with flash.

And maybe it's not due to an update, but due to something else unique on his

system. Clearly some page content on that one site is problematic for some

of us IE users! And that's a bit disappointing, because it is a pretty

good medical site.

Working fine for me. (IE6 / Win98se fully updated)

Correction:

Worked fine the first time from your link here. Then accessed newsgroups in

Google, and tried link there. It crashed... "IE encountered a problem...".

Then tried again, from the same two locations and even clicked links within

"WebMD" page and they worked and didn't crash IE. Go figure. <shrug>

Must be too much busy-ness with the sites page or something.

Re: IE Crashes on this medical website?

Bill, I have to take it back. Now I am (sometimes) getting the error bobster is

getting at that site if I stay there long enough. I am not getting your invalid

page fault, however.

The details of the error report give this error Signature, same as what MAK reports:

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106

ModName: mshtml.dll ModVer: 6.0.2800.1555 Offset: 001843c1

I have all the critical security updates for Win98SE except one for Flash which will

not install, presumably because I don't have an updated Flash on this system.

I wonder where/how lb got mshtml.dll with the version 6.00.2800.1598, or if that is

a typo. I can't find a record of that version.

Re: IE Crashes on this medical website?

Well, I've tried one other version of that DLL, and it did the same thing.

I found one more version on the net and will give it a try, but my bet is

that that isn't going to solve it since it happens already with either of

two versions of mshmtl.dll that I've tried, which are:

6.00.2800.1106

6.00.2800.1264

So far I haven't come across that newer version (6.00.2800.1598) mentioned

by lb. But again, at this point my bet is it may be a bit more complex

than simply that one DLL file giving the problem at that site. Still

waiting for PCR to weigh in...

It is strange, but thanks for checking. I've been reading up on the mshtml

page fault errors on the net too, but nothing applies. I forgot - did you

get that same error, or just a crash and redirect to the MS site. I don't

have that "feature", since I (somehow) disabled that redirect to MS web site

"feature" some time ago (I can't even remember when, where, or how).

Maybe that page is a bit too "loaded" for IE 6 I dunno. Again, it

gives no problems in Firefox.

Re: IE Crashes on this medical website?

It works fine in IE6 SP2 on Windows XP SP2.

With the error I got, in 98SE, when I sent MS the error report, there was a link for

more info on the issue. That web page stated it was a problem in Windows.....vague

enough to be useless.

Hi Curt,

I am not seeing the problem in XP with IE6; only in Win98 with IE6.

Re: IE Crashes on this medical website?

I get the Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to

close. Error report containing what I've listed.

I usually able to plough through something like this, but after several

hours and trying *many* things, no luck. Though I am no expert on what goes

on behind websites, I'm still wondering if it has something to do with

Flash.

Can you open this page http://www.hmsgold.com It directs you to a welcome page

that I can't open (Firefox has no problem) It just hangs. However, if I in

the address bar delete everything back to this

http://www.hmsgold.com/hmsgold/ I have no problem. The welcome page has a

lot of flash going on.

Can't be flash related... I uninstalled my Adobe Flash Player (9.0.47.0) and

still receive error message.

I tried it a few times and it was fine, opened a few tabs on the website

and it was still fine, then opened a new (dual) window on the site and

clicked around even some more, then all the sudden I did get a send error

report (same one that bobster did, which btw is driven by the dr watson

oriented DW15.exe which dumps in its dw.log file

The Send Error Report basically had this in it:

AppName: iexplore.exe

AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106

ModName: mshtml.dll

ModVer: 6.0.2800.1543

Offset: 000970c6

I rarely get these errors so I would suspect something within the websites

webpage construction; which is something I would not be concerned with

personally unless every website did that error on you.

OK, I musta disabled Dr. Watson some time ago!

Actually, it sounds familiar that I did something like that, but I can't

even remember how, at this point. :-)
