Guest Bill in Co. Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Does anybody else have problems in IE with this site? It seems to crash IE on my computer (but works fine in Firefox): http://www.webmd.com
Guest glee Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? Works fine here with every browser (IE, Opera, Firefox); works OK but looks like crap in OffByOne. Guest Bill in Co. Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? Really? Hey, thanks for letting me know I wasn't the only one. I recorded the error message this time, as follows: "IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in MSHTML.DLL". I'm assuming you got the same error message. (???) Well, I researched that a bit, but so far, no real answers for this particular case, since it only happens at this one site (at least so far), so it appears it has something to do with some somewhat unique page content or rendering for this one site. (Well, that, and the fact that mshtml.dll is involved). It was interesting to hear, though, that Glen didn't have any problems with that site. And that may be due to all the updates he has taken in, who knows. Or maybe not. And of course Firefox has no problems with it, either. All of which is too bad, since the site looks like a good medical reference site (http://www.webmd.com) Hey PCR, what about you? But then again, you've probably added all those updates, so it's not a relatively pure IE6 SP1 anymore. bobster wrote: > I tried it 6 times. Crashed 4, worked twice. Guest bobster Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? I got a different error message than you. I got the standard "Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" message with the option to "Send error report" or "Don't send". Guest Roxana Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? Working fine for me. (IE6 / Win98se fully updated) Correction: Worked fine the first time from your link here. Then accessed newsgroups in Google, and tried link there. It crashed... "IE encountered a problem...". Then tried again, from the same two locations and even clicked links within "WebMD" page and they worked and didn't crash IE. Go figure. <shrug> Must be too much busy-ness with the sites page or something. Guest glee Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? Bill, I have to take it back. Now I am (sometimes) getting the error bobster is getting at that site if I stay there long enough. I am not getting your invalid page fault, however. The details of the error report give this error Signature, same as what MAK reports: AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: mshtml.dll ModVer: 6.0.2800.1555 Offset: 001843c1 I have all the critical security updates for Win98SE except one for Flash which will not install, presumably because I don't have an updated Flash on this system. I wonder where/how lb got mshtml.dll with the version 6.00.2800.1598, or if that is a typo. I can't find a record of that version. -- Glen Ventura, MS MVP Shell/User, A+ http://dts-l.org/ http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm "Bill in Co." <not_really_here@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:uF6pMNMBIHA.3548@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > Interesting. Guest Bill in Co. Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? Well, I've tried one other version of that DLL, and it did the same thing. I found one more version on the net and will give it a try, but my bet is that that isn't going to solve it since it happens already with either of two versions of mshmtl.dll that I've tried, which are: 6.00.2800.1106 6.00.2800.1264 So far I haven't come across that newer version (6.00.2800.1598) mentioned by lb. But again, at this point my bet is it may be a bit more complex than simply that one DLL file giving the problem at that site. Still waiting for PCR to weigh in... glee wrote: > Bill, I have to take it back. Now I am (sometimes) getting the error bobster > is getting at that site if I stay there long enough. Guest Bill in Co. Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? It is strange, but thanks for checking. I've been reading up on the mshtml page fault errors on the net too, but nothing applies. I forgot - did you get that same error, or just a crash and redirect to the MS site. I don't have that "feature", since I (somehow) disabled that redirect to MS web site "feature" some time ago (I can't even remember when, where, or how). Guest MAK Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? I get the Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. Error report containing what I've listed. I usually able to plough through something like this, but after several hours and trying *many* things, no luck. Though I am no expert on what goes on behind websites, I'm still wondering if it has something to do with Flash. Can you open this page http://www.hmsgold.com It directs you to a welcome page that I can't open (Firefox has no problem) It just hangs. However, if I in the address bar delete everything back to this http://www.hmsgold.com/hmsgold/ I have no problem. The welcome page has a lot of flash going on. Guest MAK Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? Can't be flash related... I uninstalled my Adobe Flash Player (9.0.47.0) and still receive error message. Guest Bill in Co. Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: IE Crashes on this medical website? OK, I musta disabled Dr. Watson some time ago! Actually, it sounds familiar that I did something like that, but I can't even remember how, at this point. :-) Rick Chauvin wrote: > "Bill in Co." <not_really_here@earthlink.net> wrote in message > news:e2dnYlGBIHA.1208@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl >> Does anybody else have problems in IE with this site?
