Cannot open photos on my external drive

When opening my external drive the photos there will not open. Here is what i get. The version of this file is not compatible with Version of Window your running (had windows xp and with new computer it is now Windows 7) It then says Check computers system

info. to see whether you need and x86(32bit) or x64(64 bit) version of the program. Don't know what to do at this point.
