trying to repair windows update...fixit ran to done but update still loops endlessly

ran windows update for new updates but it search-loops endlessly. ran the fix it for this problem several times with tries at updating in between each fix it run. update not fixed and still loops. I am under XPSP3 ON A Dell D620.
