My system has a third party raid controller on which I have installed Windows 8. Everything works except recovery mode. When I run recovery mode I don't have any of the normal options I am used to seeing in safe mode. I have to load into System Image Recovery, add my RAID driver, and go back to the main recovery mode screen before it will detect my installation. It seems to be too late by then for any safe mode options to be displayed. In Linux I am accustomed to adding any needed third party drivers to the 'boot image' if I need them loaded before the kernel. Would adding the drivers to the Windows 8 install image also add them to the Windows boot image after install? Can the boot image be mounted and drivers added to it with dism? If not, how do I get the safe mode options?
