"Failure to configure windows updates. Reverting changes"

"Failure to configure windows updates. Reverting changes" I just brought a new laptop today and was in the process of installing a number of windows updates (for Windows 8). However every time I do this the updates get to around 15% and I get the message

above (When I look at my update history it appears that around 45 updates failed to install). I followed the advice giving by your engineers on the 7th of November (re altering options via "msconfig") but this does not appear to work. Can you help please?
