running Vista.

Running Microsoft Security Essentials

When I click on Windows Defender A 'box' appears stating Defender is Off. I click on the Turn on Defender then it takes ages before anything

happens. Then Windows Essentials states you have not run a scan for 253 days. I start the scan but it stops after approx. 2 mins.
