why does windows mail crash when I attach anything to an email

Whenever I attach a file to an email I want to send, it results in the email "ghosting" out, then crashing with the following messages:

Windows Mail was closed. To help protect yur computer Data Execution Prevention has closed Windows mail.

I have been using Windows Mail for years with no issues like this.

It is NOT the Antivirus - I have disabled it and crash still occurs.

Crash does NOT occur if I attach to an email in Outlook .

Any help ...
