Why would my security shut off each time I power down?

Each time I turn off my laptop for the last 2 days, obviously the security shuts down, but when I turn it back on, the icon is red and when I click on it, it is turned off, says "AT RISK" and I have to restart it. Any one have any ideas why? Thanx for

your time!
