The new Windows Store Apps execution model is optimized for mobile devices, which means that the GUI frontend stops execution when it is not visible. It resumes execution when becomes visible again.

This is completely unnecessary in desktop Windows 8, or a plugged in mobile device as a matter of fact.). The time it takes to re-symc the frontend with actual data in the backend, often takes too much time. This lag is not a nice UI experience. In cases

when power usage is not an issue (desktop and plugged in mobile devices), the frontend should not be interrupted, but kept running as it causes no problems, but helps to eliminate the unnecessary lags.

Does it makes sense? Would it be possible to change this in future SPs?
