Drive not appearing in Dashboard

Hi,

I connected a 1tb HDD to my server running Windows Home Server 2011. The drive installs but no drive letter is assigned. I use the fdisk, disk management program to assign a drive letter and the drive appears

in My Computer and behaves as normal; it is formatted and can read and write data as usual.

However this drive does not appear in Dashboard - Hard Drives Tab and I am unable to therefore create any server Folders for it.

If add a different HDD, it shows up in the dashboard immediately.

This 1tb drive was taken from a NAS but has since been formatted.

can anyone help?
