Unable to get sound options to display, windows 7 64 bit.

I am unable to get onto any audio options, either by clicking onto sound through control panne, or by right clicking on sound in the task bar. Also when ever i plug in any headset it takes along time for it to recognise that anything has been plugged,

I have the same problem with my turtle beach which is a jac and usb as well as my logitec which is usb but is plugged in at the rear of the computer. Can anyone help me with sovling this problem? I m not sure on what info you will need so just post and i will

upload it asap.Thanks
