After reinstalling an original Windows XP Prof w/IE6 I can no longer update

After reinstalling an original Windows XP Prof w/IE6 I can no longer update IE or Service Packs...  The installs error out during the install process.  What is going on with the updates?  Can stand the new Windows Update interface.  Can't find the

links and not even sure if the ones I am finding are correct.  I installed it a few times over the years and updated without issue....now problems. Can any one tell me why and where the link are to IE8 at least and the service packs I need?Thanks
