Guest Jake Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Hi, We want load balancing from a server with a dual NIC to a switch with port trunking enabled. The first NIC port has IP 192.168.33.10, GW 192.168.33.1 and DNS + WINS 192.168.33.10. Which IP properties do you assign to the second port? Which other issues need to be taken into consideration when enabling loadbalancing..? jake
Guest Mathieu CHATEAU Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Re: Dual NIC ports - load balancing Hello, trunk is layer 2, IP is layer 3. You would use the manufacturer tools from broadcom or intel to make layer 2 connectivity (trunk). Broadcom or intel will create a virtual adapter for both real hardware ones, where you set only one IP. Real adapter then don't have any ip binded to it directly -- Cordialement, Mathieu CHATEAU English blog: http://lordoftheping.blogspot.com French blog: http://www.lotp.fr "Jake" <jake44@gmail.com> wrote in message news:u$NJwJNBIHA.3780@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Hi, > > We want load balancing from a server with a dual NIC to a switch with port > trunking enabled. > > The first NIC port has IP 192.168.33.10, GW 192.168.33.1 and DNS + WINS > 192.168.33.10.
