Can't run driver updates

I use an optical keyboard and mouse from Logitech.  They sent me updated software for this device, in both 34- and 68-bit versions.  (My OS is 68-bit.)  I downloaded both but when I try to run either one I get an error message indicating "this is not a

valid Win34 application."  Also, I see that the files they sent me are empty.  Logitech tech support reps tell me these programs are downloaded regularly by many users and work fine.Can anyone think of what's going wrong?
