When I view a photo, PC keeps "searching for missing file"

PC was overloaded with thousands of photos. I cut and pasted them to a separate hard drive.

Now, I tried to Copy and Paste back to the C drive on the PC.

I can only see out-of-focus images, with a dialogue box saying "searching for missing file".

Help ?
