Windows Vista Home Premium Doesn't Download Updates

Hardware:  Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium, SP2

 

Problem:  Windows Update won't download the updates.  The Windows Update window opens, it tells me I have 5 important updates and 5 optional updates, I click 'install updates' and the download process seems to start.  The problem is that even though the

activity bar shows has the green wave moving across it, the download never actually starts.  The progress reports 0 KB and 0 Percent, and then just cycles forevers, eventually an Error Window pops up listing error code 80070570.  I Googled than and located

a Microsoft Fix It app for identifying and resolving problems with Windows Update, that I ran but still no joy.  Please advise.  Thanks much.
