I have a Toshiba Satellite, when I turn it on it seems to be fine, but when it goes to boot up Windows XP Home Edition the screen goes blank and after about 5 minutes it displays "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

"<Windows root>system32hal.dll" Please re-install a copy of the above file." Where do I get a copy of this file? and how do I install it if the computer does not go past the initial start-up screen?
