In the upgrade to Win8Pro (clean installed) I moved around my hardware and ended up with a motherboard without a parallell port in the machine that shall have the printer. To resolve the issue I bought a VScom 011H UPCI board and after installing the Win7

drivers (no Win8 drivers exists) Windows found and installed the printer driver without any issues. The port for some odd reason showed up as LPT3 though.

The printer works without flawlessly if selected from the print dialog but it doesn't show up anywhere else. Since it doesn't show up I can't make it the default printer, nor can I share it on my home network. The VScom board has no setting to change

the port to LPT1 nor has the motherboard so I'm stuck.

Is this a known issue? I mean, a setup where LPT1 & LPT2 are missing and the one and only port is LPT3 isn't exactly the first thing one test... Any workarounds?
