I am getting continuously repeated reminders for installation of the above update (KB2538242).

I have checked my update history and now find KB2538242 is reported as installed successfully on innumerable occasions since first installation record dated 17/06/11, but it does not appear on the installed updates list when viewed from the control panel.

The update history records the previous Visual C++ update KB2467175 as being installed successfully initially on 14/04/11 and again on 14/05/11, but the same as for the above item KB2467175 does not appear on the installed updates list when viewed from the

control panel.

Because neither of these updates appear on the list of installed updates from the control panel view I do not get the option to uninstall them.

The only reference to Visual C++ 2005 that I can find in my installed programmes list from the control panel refers to M/S Visual C++ 2005 ATL update KB973923.

I am using Vista Business on a 32 bit operating system and running Office 2000, but now find that since the last attempted update installation of KB2538242 the Word programme is not responding.

I have tried using Microsoft FixIt for the update, and I have tried System Restore. FixIt didn't make any difference, and System Restore failed for unidentified reasons on 2 occasions.

Can anyone suggest any further solution please.

Regards,

MarconMarine
