Guest G Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 We have about thirty tablet PCs that connect both via WiFi and Ethernet when docked. One of three identical tablets does not show up in Explorer in our domain under Microsoft Windows Network. Nor does it show up in the net view listing. If I enter \\computername in the address bar, it does appear in Explorer's left hand pane, but with its description, not just its computername. If I then navigate up one level so that the listing is in the right hand pane, this computername does not appear. I've rejoined this computer to our domain, to no effect. One IP address shows up in DNS, and both show up in DHCP and WINS, which seems odd, and I suspect may be where my problem lies. I'm also concerned that this tablet may have other issues with the domain, group policy, etc. I've compared TCP/IP settings for both connections, and did not find any differences. ________ Greg Stigers, MCSA remember to vote for the answers you like
Guest Anthony Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Re: PC not showing up in Network Neighborhood The first thing I would check is whether this problem is being caused by having two active NICs. You could disable the wireless or wired, delete and re-register in WINS and DNS, and see if it goes away. You can have two NICs if you have a reason for it, for example on two different unrouted subnets, but only one default gateway.
