Lost USB connection

I lost my connection to my printer. I uninstalled the printer & now I can not reinstall. I can not get past the USB cable hookup of the install. The problem started when I tried to print a document. I have tried a new USB cable, used a different usb port,

up dated my printer driver & did a check for up dates to my PC. Nothing is getting my printer back. Can anyone help?
