Unable to update KB2779768 getting error WindowsUpdate_80070003 WindowsUpdate_dt000" update failure

I have stopped all Startup functions using Msconfig and Task Manager, disabled anti-virus (Trend Micro), Nvidia Drivers.  Running windows 8, came pre-installed on Dell Inspirion with 8 GB memory and 1 TB hard drive.  This laptop is less than 2 months old

(purchased new through brick & mortar retail store).  I was able to get all other updates to install manually by doing the above things, and have tried many other solutions (including windows support pages referencing the problem).  Still unable to install

Update KB2779768.  Get error code "WindowsUpdate_80070003 WindowsUpate_dt000".  Says Failure to update configuration ... reverting changes, do not turn off computer.  This has been going on since Dec. 18th 2012.
