Windows 8 has no "wait I'm doing something" ability when it WANTS to do an update

Well my machine was about 1/3 way through a massively complex process, and windows decided that it had warned me that in "2 days updates" will be installed (around 2 days ago) so it just shutdown on me without warning halfway through what I was doing!!!Stupid stupid thing...
