Why does the Virus Protection section of my Security Essentials keep shutting down?

Sometimes when I turn on my computer in the morning, the Virus Protection on my Security Essentials program turns itself off. What is causing this, and how can I stop it from happening again? And what can I do to fix it? Do I have to uninstall  then reinstall

the Security Essentials program?
