Help and support missing

Windows 2003 server SP2. Just found Help and support is not there. Got

the message "Windows cannot open Help and Support because a system

service is not running. To fix this problem, start the service named

'Help and Support'"

I found the microsoft KB article at

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937055

and followed the instructions but on the second command I got this

"C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries>HSCUpd.exe -i HSCmui.cab

Error (hr = 8007041d): The service did not respond to the start or

control request in a timely fashion."

Also the third command line refers to hscsp_e3.cab where the file I

have is hscsp_s3.cab.

I am not an expert. The system was pre-installed for 40 users and I

have found my way mostly by using the built in H&S and online

resources.

Anyone any advice on this?

Re: Help and support missing

Under Administrative Tools, run Services. Find the Help and Support service.

Right-click it, and choose Start.

Hello Alang,

Use this solution, even it is stated for SBS, works also on normal 2003:

http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2007/03/20/help-and-support-service-missing-after-installing-windows-2003-service-pack-2.aspx

Used it myself until now on 5 2003 servers without any problem and the help

and support comes back.

Best regards

The help and support service is not there.

I assumed the fix on the MS KB would reinstall it for me.
