My system is a Windows 7 64-bit Windows Home Premium desktop.  I had 16 updates to install and on the 12th, it hung up.  It was trying to install an update related to the malicious software tool.  It was stuck at 68% complete for hours.  I hit the button

to cancel the update, but that did nothing.  So, I clicked on Start=>Shutdown and it said installing update 12 of 16 please don't turn off computer.  That sat for a couple of hours and got nowhere so I held down the power button to shut it down.  That was

Thursday.  Today I turned on the computer and booted it into Safe mode.  It said that the Windows Update had failed and it was reverting.  After a few minutes it said was shutting down and it did an restarted this time in regular mode on it's own.  Again go

the reverting message and then it came up successfully.  I am assuming it must have automatically restored my computer to the last restore point.  So, far everything seems to be working

OK.  My question is, how do I proceed from here?   How do I go about getting these updates installed?   I know that I've read  that sometimes this happens because the updates try to load out of sequence and there is a prerequisite update that needs done.

Do I try installing one at a time?  Should I try installing everything but the malicious software tool update, reboot, then try to install that?
