Web will not open the side with the answer

I was trying to fix the windvd.exe from crashing than I find out that I can not continue downloading the windows xp updates, the explorer could not open the web. I got error 0x80240036. When I try to turn off the computer the option, turn off without loading

is not avilable, or better , it will not allow updating the windows XP. So:

1. I can not download the updates for Windows XP.

2. The windvd.exe VER 5.0 crashes.

3. May be that is why the InterVideo DVD does not recognise some DVD's.

4. The CD drive no matter how many CD' I try, it prompts me " Insert a CD".

 

I an older Sony Vaio desktop, and I just installed the manufacturers software.

 

I created all these problems. I purcesed the PowerSuite 2012 Golden Edition by Spotmau to fix the Registery. After I run the software all the SystemRestore points where gone, and the Recicle bin was empty. The DVD RW and CD RW drivers where gone but the

report was perfect.

I think that this softwre is a time bomb for an ignorant like me.

Please help.
