Is Microsoft Security Essential compatible with AVG or other antivirus softwares?

I've always had the Microsoft Security Essential (MSE) installed along with AVG Antivirus and Malwarebytes without experiencing any problems. However, when I received information from various PC Forums that MSE is not compatible with AVG Antivirus and

I could experience problems. I just completed assembly and start up on my new PC and I just want to make sure that I have the proper security programs installed.
