Keep gettingerror messages

Keep getting error message on everything I do like adobe reader pops up saying error usercontrolpanelsettings.exe could not open b/c either not supported file type or because file name has been damaged. System has locked me out and I am the only user of

my laptop. HP pavilion g6 wind7
