Gets stuck installing automatic updates

You: Hi, we have a new Windows 8 laptop. When we shut it down last night, it went to automatic updates. This morning it was stuck on "Installing update 10 of 33. What should I do? I manually shut it down, turned it back on, and it came

back to the same screen "Keep your PC plugged in until this is done. Installing update 10 of 33...."
