Windows Update service isn't running!!!

      My Windows Update won't check for any updates due to an error in which the Windows Update Service won't start. 

- I tried the services.msc but wasn't clear what to do. Both my BITS and Windows Update service are on Automatic (delayed start)

- I tried the Microsoft Fix It, but a system error comes up. Saying "command line argument is invalid"

- I did the Update Trouble Shooting but it couldn't fix two problems.  

(1) potential windows update database error detected

(2) it says the Windows Upgrade components is broken or damaged.

- I did the sfc scannow and now problems came up.

- I don't know what to do now.

 

My system is a Sony VAIO VPCF234FD. 

Windows 7 Home Premium

64 Bit operating system 

6GB of ram.

2.20GHz CPU
