I have a 10-year old Toshiba laptop that has always been offline.  It has no service packs.I have tried to connect it, but the old IE cuts out before I can do very much.I have a desktop machine that is up to date. Can I download to the desktop and write to a flash drive as a way of getting working software: IE first, then the service packs.(I purchased a Service Pack 3 CD, but it won't install without Service Pack 1).
