2nd of 3 Hard drives fail

I have a three drive HP EX495, and it starting having issues finding songs the other night.  Upon looking it over, the second HD was listed as missing and the third drive, which is internal, was listed as external.

I turned it off, and pulled the second drive and connected it to another PC.  It spins up, but when recognized comes up as unformated, but with a partition that is seen.   I am not sure if it is worth any time to try to recover it at this

point. 

I am also not sure what is at risk or lost by losing it.

I did have a BDBB backup, not sure when that was last done.

Questions:

1. Have I likely lost all backups?

2. Should I replace the "missing" drive and restart and see what is left after that?

3. Any explanation as to why the third internal drive is now listed as external?

Thanks in advance for any advice, knowing this is an abandoned product, and any help will be greatly appreciated.
