Is It Necessary to Install ALL Updates & Can I Remove Old Ones?

All this confuses me greatly, but sometimes the Updates show a list of many updates, most of which say important.  Is it really necessary to install all marked important?Once done can I remove all the older Updates?  So many old and new updates seem to be for the same thingsThank You in Advance.Another one of Noel Paton Groupies
