MSE won't run and internet getting redirected

Hi

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Security Essentials but it will not run. It starts momentarily but then disappears. I am unable to run a scan as I cannto get it open. As of the same time my Internet Explorerer has started redirecting to random

websites whenever I 'open in new tab or window'. Has anyone come across this and have an idea on how to fix it. Do i need to try a different antivirus program. I am guessing i have avirus to cause all of this, is there a way to get rid of it to allow MSE back

in action?
