My entire Update History disappeared, and shows 'Updates were installed: Never'.

I opened MS Windows Update yesterday to install some new updates, but I first checked the Update History, and that now shows only one update, a Definition update KB2310138 (Definition 1.143.1662.0), installed automatically sometime

earlier yesterday. However the entire update history prior to this has disappeared. On the Windows Update main page against “Updates were installed:” it now says “Never”.
