I keep getting the above error message each time I try to install updates for .NET framework 1.2 service pack 1. I am running Windows XP.  I also keep getting a repeat of KB253842 every time I turn on my computer it wants to update the same one (Security

update for visual C++2005 service pack 1 redistributable package). Thank you anyone that can help. I have repaired .NET framework 4 and it didn't help.
