Guest msdawkins Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I have a Win 2003 Std Edition w/ SP1 server with the problem described in KB article 829422. Microsoft has sent me the hotfix per my request. The only problem is that when I try to install it, it says that "the Service Pack version is newer than the update, so it is not necessary to install", and then closes. I have checked the file version of Win32k.sys (which is the file to be updated) and my file is a "lower" version number than the one described in the article. Has anyone else seen this issue? What is the point of the hotfix if it can't be installed?
Guest Dave Patrick Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: 0x0000008E Hotfix in KB 829422 You should call product support and ask them what's up with this. -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup. Guest msdawkins Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Re: 0x0000008E Hotfix in KB 829422 Is there a way to call them without having to pay the $259 or put down a credit card? Guest Dave Patrick Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Re: 0x0000008E Hotfix in KB 829422 You may have to do the latter initially but hotfix support should always be free. If you have an MSDN sub you could post to the managed groups. http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/aa974230.aspx -- Regards, Dave Patrick ....Please no email replies - reply in newsgroup.
