My windows 8 Updates fail and my sound wont play

I have a Lenovo p500 with windows 8 and a couple weeks ago the Updates have begun to fail during the process. It stops at 15% every time. Also the sound has stopped playing from my laptop. It will play out of head phones but wont play from the Laptop speakers.
