Okay guys, I had audio last night before shutting down but when I turned on my laptop this morning...there is no audio. The speaker icon in the system tray indicates that the volume is on mute (red x). When I click on the icon, the Troubleshooter automatically

starts rather than getting the volume bar. The Troubleshooter tells me that audio services are not started. So I go to the Services window from the Task Manager. RPC startup is automatic/started, Windows Audio Endpoint startup is automatic/started, Windows

audio startup is automatic/not running. When I attempt to start the audio service, I get the error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.  All the dependencies are showing as "Started" so I am not understanding why I have no audio.

I have checked other forums here and tried a few things I found in them to no avail (uninstall/re-install the audio device, etc). The audio device is showing in the Device Manager and appears to be working properly. I was using USB speakers and unplugged them

in case they had gone bad, but this has not solved the issue. I am an IT student and must have audio to listen to lectures for classes. Please help me.System Specs:Windows 7 Pro 64 bitGateway NV79 LaptopMotherboard is Gateway (not Asus) with integrated Graphics/Audio
