It seems like these updates (KB2742613, KB2729460, KB2737083) disable my external mouse settings (Microsoft Explorer mini mouse).

The mouse doesnt work after these updates are installed and I keep getting 'USB device malfunctioned'. No it didnt' Your update did. Uninstalling these 'untested, poorly written and released just because sprint ended' updates, removes the issue and mouse works

fine!My network admin set up my machine to install updates automatically and every morning I have to uninstall these KB updates to have the mouse working again. Go figure....frustrating!
