Adding a SATA hard drisk using a SATA-to-USB device

I am trying to have my SATA hard disk appear in my laptop but whenever I try to initialize the disk via disk management, I get the error "The device is not ready yet". I also tried Right click on Disk 1 but the only options I get are

Initialize Disk, Offline, Properties, Help. No matter what I do, I get the error the device is not ready yet. I already checked Devices and Printers. The device does appear there so the problem must be on the disk. I am also thinking about

the software. Any ideas guys?

 

Kudos to the great people who can help me on this!
