Certificate Errors

Hello,

I have a problem that I hope someone has some experience with and can help.

Each time I sign on to a website that is https (secure), a page pops up that

says (there is a problem with this website's certificate........ ). I'm

allowed to either go on, which is not recommended or click out.

If I go on, the address bar becomes red. However, problem still remains, I

cannot access the proper page.

Example: I go to ebay.com. I go to the sign on page. The page pops up. I

then did what the microsoft support said and click on the go ahead and then

click on the Certificate Error on the address bar and install the

certificate. This doesn't help. Furthermore, I can continue to access the

pages (red bar remains), but when I try to go to the "open a seller account"

it will not allow it and takes me back to my sign on page. Also with my

banking website, the same thing happens.

I have downloaded all my updates for IE7 and my OS, which is XP pro SP2, and

I even tried downloading Firefox and trying from there to no avail.

Does anyone have any advise or expertise with this? Other than paying the

$59 for the support, I am at a loss.

Regards,

Pam

Hello,

try this,

On ie - > open tools - > internet options

- > Content tab - > Click Certificates - >

intended Purpose is all

- > look for the tab 'Untrusted Publishers'

delete all the items from that tab.

And restart the IE.

If this is happening with limited websites try adding them in trusted sites

Security tab- > Internet -> Click on sites - > add the sites we have

problems with under trusted sites and restart the browser .

Let me know the status

RE: Certificate Errors

Hi Rajesh,

Thank you for your response.

Ok, I did both of the things you said to do, including adding the exact web

address that comes up with the certificate problem, say for ex. http://www.ebay.com

is fine, but the sign on page is a problem, so I added that one to it, but it

still comes up with the problem. Same with my banking page. I do not think it

is all the https sites because my other bank site is no problem.

In my "untrusted sites" I had two Microsoft Verisign sites that the

certificates had expired in 2002.

Hope there are other suggestions?

Thank you,

Pam

Re: Certificate Errors

Pam, are you using Kaspersky anti-virus or internet suite, by any

chance?

I'm using McAfee Security Center for my anti-virus, is that what you are

looking for?

Hi Pam

It was just that I remembered having problems with certificates when I

installed a trial version of Kaspersky and set it to check encrypted

connections. I don't know McAfee but it may have a similar setting.

Here's a link to a discussion about it; perhaps it might help?

Re: Certificate Errors

Thank you, I will give that a shot. Perhaps contacting McAfee will help.

Any other suggestions out there as well? Microsoft seems to assume it is an

IE7 but has yet to connect with me, however I ask, it happens when I use

Firefox as well. Doesn't that suggest it may be XP?
