error code 80242FFF whenever I try to install KB2763523 in Windows 7,

I have been unable to install KB2763523 and error code 80242FFF is  cited as the reason for this, coincidentally my laptop has been crashing intermittently ever since this error came up. I have run diagnostics on the hardware and there are no indications

of failure nor defects dtected. How do I resolve this error?
